April 24, 2025: PhD defence within the project topic
On April 24, 2025 PhD student Robert Ato Newton, Faculty of Environment, UJEP defended the PhD thesis entitled “Assessment of the value chain of Miscanthus phytomanagement: stage of waste processing and biochar utilization”. The supervisor of the PhD study was professor Valentina Pidlisnyuk, NPD. The Reviewers of the PhD thesis were Dr. Bertrand Pourrut, Assoc. Prof. in Environmental Sciences, Toulouse INP-ENSAT, Head of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences Department, Toulouse National Polytechnic Institute, France and Ing. Jan Weger, PhD, Landscape Research Institute, Průhonice, Czech Republic.
After presentation of the research results by Robert Ato Newton and answering for the questions, an intensive discussion followed in which members of the Scientific committee Dr. Josef Trogl, Assoc. Prof., Head of the Scientific Committee, professor Ing. Pavel Janoš, C.Sc., Assoc. Prof., Ing. Jiří Henych, PhD, Dr. Bertrand Pourrut and Dr. Jan Weger, Dr. Karim Al Souki participated along with professor Valentina Pidlisnyuk, NPD. The discussion was based on research results presented at 8 IFs articles published by Robert Ato Newton in coauthoring. The PhD thesis was successfully proceeded and Robert Ato Newton was awarded the Doctoral degree in Environmental Analytical Chemistry and Technology.
The results of the on-going G6094 project were introduced to Dr. Bertrand Pourrut, Assoc. Prof. in Environmental Sciences, Toulouse INP-ENSAT, Head of Agronomy and Environmental Sciences Department, Toulouse National Polytechnic Institute, France and the framework of cooperation via the future educational proposal was overviewed.
