May 18, 2026: Visit to Frainhofer IKTS, Germany

On May 18, 2026, Professor Valentina Pidlisnyuk, NPD, and Dr. Josef Trogl, UJEP, visited the Fraunhofer IKTS in Germany. They were accompanied by Dr. Jiří Mikeš, a member of the Czech cluster NANOProgress.

The goal of the visit was to present the results of the project related to M×g biomass cellulose content and discuss the possibilities for processing of this biomass into bioproducts. During their stay at IKTS, they met with Dr. Natalia Beshchasna, Head of the Biofunctional Materials and Point-of-Care Diagnostics Group, and PhD student Aleksandr Zibert. Opportunities for joint research focused on transforming M×g biomass produced at the research fields in Chomutov into biodegradable products were discussed.

After the meeting, the participants were given a laboratory tour of IKTS led by PhD student Aleksandr Zibert.
