June 9, 2026: Master defence of Nargiza Akhmetalina (KazNU)

Nargiza Akhmentalina, a Master’s student at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), a linkage institution within the G6094 project, successfully defended her Master’s thesis on 9 June 2026. Her thesis, entitled “Development of Microbial–Biochar Complexes Using Biochar Produced from Organic Waste”, was conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Aigerim Mamirova. Part of the research was carried out during her stay at the Department of Environmental Chemistry and Technology, Faculty of Environment, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP), from 10 March to 7 May 2026, under the guidance of Prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk, NPD.

The study represents a valuable contribution to the scientific direction of sustainable management of marginal and/or contaminated soils through the circular reconsideration of organic waste generated during remediation-related processes. The results of this work provide a meaningful additional contribution to the objectives of the MilClimATech project by supporting the development of microbial–biochar-based approaches for soil improvement and sustainable waste valorisation.
