April 15-16, 2025: Establishing of Miscanthus plantation with ash at the post-military brownfield, Chomutov suburb

Member of NATO team at UJEP, i.e., NPD Prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk, Dr. Karim Al Souki, PhD students Robert Ato Newton, Abdulmannan Rouhani, Batoul Hamade, and Muhammed Zubair established Miscanthus plantation at the post-military brownfield located in suburb of Chomutov. The ash will be tested at the field scale there in accordance with the task of WP1 of G6094. Soil at the plantation was treated by ash in 1 and 2.5 % doses, in combination with separate. The wood ash is originated from the power energy plant in Olsztyn, Poland. In 2024 the wood ash was tested at the Lab conditions as element of Advanced M×g phytotechnology. Altogether 24 plots of Miscanthus were established, in each plot 20 Miscanthus plants were planted at the deep of 10-12 cm. In parallel, the energy crop Silphia was planted with the same soil treatment by ash. Collaborators from the Czech Agrifood Research Centre assisted in establishing plantation.
