Meeting with Pia de Gouvello, French Journalist, at the Vorzel research plantation (Ukraine)

On August 14, 2026 the project team from NULES, Ukraine had a meeting with Ms. Pia de Gouvello, an independent French journalist, who is going to introduce the NATO G6094 accomplishments to the readers of the French independent environmental media outlet Reporterre. The working meeting held at the MilClimATech experimental M×g plantation in Vorzel, Kyiv region, operated by NULES project team where impact of two biochars to the Phytotechnology has been evaluated multiyear.

Ms. Pia de Gouvello earlier interviewed NPD Prof. Valentina Pidlisnyuk and Co-Director Tetyana Stefanovska, and expressed interest in visiting the M×g plantation in Vorzel to learn more about the field research framework and to meet with the young scientists involved in the project.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Tetyana Stefanovska, Dr. Artem Medkov, PhD student Anastasiia Husieva, also young researcher from NULP Dr. Martyn Sozanskyi joint the visit. The young researchers presented their role and research activities within the project, and shared the received results.

During the field visit, NULES team introduced the long-term experiment on cultivating M×g on military-degraded land using biochar as part of a soil restoration strategy. The visitors observed ongoing field activities, including collecting soil sampling for long-term Carbon monitoring. The researchers also talked about the challenges of conducting research in wartime Ukraine, and explained how nature-based solutions can help restore the military destroyed lands.
