Participation in the 12th International Miscanthus conference, Lohne, Germany

On November 24-26, 2024 12th Miscanthus International Conference “Miscanthus – From ecosystem services to innovative products” was held in Lohne, Germany. The event was organized by the Miscanthus International Society and gathered together some 120 professionals specialized in production and processing of Miscanthus.

On behalf of NATO G6094 team two reports were presented at the conference: “Soil-enhancement-based cultivation of Miscanthus on non-agricultural land: economics and environmental aspects (Mamirova A. and Pidlisnyuk V.) and “Multiyear Miscanthus biomass production at the marginal and post-mining areas with soil amendments: Case of Chomutov, Czech Republic” (Pidlisnyuk V., Newton R., Mamirova A., Rouhani A., Vana V., Ust’ak S.).

While at the conference Prof. Pidlisnyuk had meetings with Prof. Ralf Puda (Bonn University), Prof. John Clifton-Brown (University of Giessen), Dr. Uwe Kuhn and Georg Volkering (Co-chairman of the Miscanthus International Society), all-Germany; Dr. Van Nguyen, Wageningen University, Netherland; Mr. Sergyi Chabannyi, Miscanthus d.o.o., Croatia; Mr. Didier Fettil, Miscanthus Green Care, France; Mr. Michael Bieder, Founder and CEO “Fibamax”, Germany; Mr. Gerhard Hochstein, Head, Management Solution, Germany. During these meeting the results of NATO G6094 were disseminated and perspective of collaboration in processing the Miscanthus biomass to valuable bioproducts was discussed.
