Scientific Networking and Development of Strategic Research Partnerships in Portugal

Prof. Pidlisniuk visited Porto University with multiple goals: to introduce the latest achievements of G6094 to colleagues from the Department of Civil Engineering and Resources; to present the Guide “Utilisation of Advanced Miscanthus Phytotechnology for Revitalisation of the Post-Military Land”, recently published within G6094; and to define the role of the colleagues in the Horizon project proposal, which will continue the research initiated within G6094.

A meeting was held with Prof. Cristina Villa, Department of Civil Engineering and Resources, and Prof. Lourdes Dinis, Coordinator of CERENA FEUP and Coordinator of the Environmental Group at CERENA, regarding the ongoing preparation of project proposal, which was presented by Prof. Pidlisniuk. During the second meeting with colleagues from FEUP WP5 and WP6 of the project proposal were deeply discussed, with particular emphasis on the role of the Department of Civil Engineering. During the third virtual meeting in which Dr. Volodymyr Reutskyi, NULP was presented the final revision of WP5 and WP6 of the project proposal was discussed in details, and the responsibilities were allocated among the partners.

Prof. Pidlisniuk visited the NCI Academy in Oeiras, to become familiar with the NATO courses offered by the Academy. The purpose was to obtain information about the conditions for enrolment in courses focused on Education, Training, and Evaluation. However, due to the holiday season, it was not possible to meet the particular person responsible for the course and enrolment procedures.

Prof. Valentyna Pidlisniuk visited the Department of Materials Science, the Institute for Nanostructures, Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication (CENIMAT-i3N), at the NOVA School of Science and Technology, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Campus de Caparica. CENIMAT-i3N is extensively involved in high-level research in the field of advanced materials and nanotechnologies and has been awarded number of European Research Council projects, also, the department participated in the NATO project Science for Stability.

Prof. Pidlisniuk met with Prof. Dr. Elvira Fortunato, and overviewed the UJEP’s structural framework, with particular emphasis on the main research directions of the Faculty of Environment and the achievements of the G6094 project in the development and implementation of advanced Miscanthus × giganteus phytotechnology. Dr. Tomás Pinheiro, Researcher at CENIMAT-i3N, presented the activities of the MEON Group under Research Area 3 on Bioelectronics and Biomedical Devices. The presentation was co-authored by Prof. Elvira Fortunato, Dr. Henrique Almeida, Prof. Hugo Águas, Prof. Rui, Prof. Rodrigo Martins, and Dr. Pinheiro. Dr. Pinheiro provided Prof. Pidlisniuk with a laboratory tour of the MEON Group facilities, where the technologies used for the production and testing of advanced materials were presented. Finally, opportunities for future cooperation were discussed.
