September 18-21, 2024: Presentation Project results in RemTech 2024 (Ferrara, Italy)

A team from UJEP participated virtually at the international conference RemTech Europe which was held on September 18-21, 2024, in Ferrara, Italy in the hybrid format. The conference aimed to facilitate the exchange of knowledge, showcase innovations, and present case studies to advance remediation processes and use sustainable technologies. The event united scientific researchers, industry leaders, and technology providers, offering a platform for discussion and collaboration among stakeholders.

A team from UJEP presented the results of the NATO G6094 project in online presentations delivered at Session 14 “Biochar and soil amendments|”. PhD student Robert Ato Newton delivered a report “Application of multiyear Miscanthus phytotechnology supported by soil amendments to the post-military/post-mining land: case of Chomutov, Czech Republic” co-authored by Valentina Pidlisnyuk, Sergey Ust’ak and Vojtech Vana (Crop Research Institute), Aigerim Mamirova (Al-Farabi Kazakh National University). PhD student Abdulmannan Rouhani delivered a report “Application of ash as a soil amendment in phytoremediation” co-authored by Valentina Pidlisnyuk and Karim Suhail Al Souki. Valentina Pidlisnyuk delivered a report “Remediation approaches for degraded military-polluted lands: case of Ukraine” co-authored by Larry Erickson and Ganga Hettiarachichi (Kansas State University, USA), Tatyana Stefanovska (NULES), Sergey Ust’ak (Crop Research Institute), and Pavlo Shapoval (NULP).

Upon completing the presentations, the session was concluded with a round of questions and answers pertaining to the presentations. The audience asked questions regarding using Miscanthus phytotechnology, challenges during implementation, and management of the post-phytoremediation biomass addressed to participants from UJEP which was responded to by Professor Valentina Pidlisnyuk.
