Visit of Co-Director Dr. Mariya Marinova, Royal Military College, Canada to UJEP, the Czech Republic
On October 22-23, 2024, Dr. Mariya Marinova, RMC, Canada, visited UJEP within the NATO G6094 project.
The goals of her visit were to observe the Miscanthus research plantation in Chomutov and to meet with NDP Prof. Pidlisnyuk to discuss the state-the-art valorization research of the pyrolysis products allocated at RMC with respected outputs referring to the project’s indicators, and to deliver the presentation to the faculty members and students of the Faculty of Environment, UJEP.
While in Chomutov, Dr. Marinova met with Dr. Sergey Ust’ak, Director of the Crop Research Institute, branch in Chomutov. Prof. Pidlisnyuk, NDP and associated members of the NATO team at UJEP Dr. Karim Al Souki and PhD student Abdulmannan Rouhani attended the meeting as well. The options for the joint research in pyrolysis product valorization were discussed. PhD student Rouhani introduced the Lab experiment in which contaminated ash is tested during M×g phytotechnology (research of WP1 of the project). Thereafter participants visited the Miscanthus plantation established at the post-military land in Chomutov where 4 different amendments, including biochar in two doses, are long-time tested as elements of the Advanced Phytotechnology.
While at UJEP, Dr. Marinova had a discussion with Prof. Pidlisnyuk on the indicated activities of RMC planned to be accomplished at Mil3. She also did a presentation for the UJEP faculty members, PhD and Master students entitled “Biomass valorization in a circular bioeconomy approach”. Dr. Marinova met with the Head of the Department of Environmental Chemistry & Technology Dr. Jiri Orava and Vice-Dean on Research Dr. Josef Trogl. The options for the joint research/educational activities were discussed including the exchange visit of PhD students within the project’s related topics.
